Healthier: Break Reminder App Reviews

No Snooze

I really like being reminded to take a break. Often though, I am RIGHT in the middle of some task, and dont want to take a break RIGHT NOW. Please give me a configurable snooze so I can just postpone the break for 5 or 10 mintues without having to restart the timer. Restarting the timer, or simply ignoring the break altogether are currently the only alternatives.

Does the job

Has a very basic job and does it well. No complaints.

Favorite app!

I am a remote worker and sit at my desk a lot. I looked for different ways to notify myself I needed to get up an do something, but nothing worked well. I got this app and problem solved, I set it for once an hour and get up and do some sort of excercise.

xwrits for OS-X...

If you ever used xwrits (X11), you’ll like this app. Easy to use, unobtrusive, and gives you hints above and beyond flexing your wrists (or other finger gestures). I’m on the fence as to whether or not I want a snooze button to abuse. Regardless, a very nice and beautiful app.

The whole team loves it!

We tried Time Out and that was so frustrating, it didn’t work right, so nice that Heathier does exactly what it says. I do wish that it would always alternate between an eye break and a getting up and moving break, or do both in break.

Outstanding!

This app. does exactly as described and works flawlessly. It has been a significant and welcome benefit to me reminding me to get up and take a break and a walk. Highly recommended.

A simple important fix to my life.

Wow. So powerful and surprisingly its gotten much of the rest of my life on track - eating smaller amounts more frequently, picking up the house, stretching, little bursts of exercise, more quality time with the dog, you get the idea. In my perfect world Id be able to write my own random "break assignments" that come up. Id also like the "30 seconds before break" warning to be a little more intrusive. Nice to be able to save files, push the send button, and otherwise wrap things up before the screen suddenly greys. Fabulous app. Thanks.

Seamless

This simple app does exactly what I wanted—remind me to get up and move..

Little things that matter...

I really like this App… just 1 or 2 minutes every hour or so make the difference in your wellbeing. I didnt notice and appreciate it till I got it run on my laptop. I feel much better, and with this reminder I also remember to drink water, walk a little bit around my desk, get some streching. I really love the little tips that help you for a little relax time, simple exercises for the body, eyes… I totally recommend it!

A simple app that delivers what it promises

Healthier does exactly what it promises, and is exactly the app I was looking for. I needed a simple reminder to get up and take a break ever hour or so while at work and this does exactly that. I didn’t want to use my phone because it is either loud (annoying to others in my office) or too easy to ignore - Healthier is a great compromise. It does everything I could ask for and a little more, but if there was one usability feature I would request it would be the ability to turn off the ‘quotes’ during the break notification. I like that I can turn off the sound/tips but I don’t believe there is a way to disable the quotes.

Please STOP asking for a review

Everytime an app promts to review it I give it a one star rating. This obnoxious trend needs to stop. Now.

Healthy Reminder!

It accomplishes just what I need! The hour warning breaks the spell of my current obsession, be it getting an app to do what it is supposed to or balancing my financial accounts. Wouldn’t be without it!

Simple and to the point — perfect!

I set the app to automatically run when I log in, so I don’t have to think about starting it. It reminds me to take a break and even provides suggested exercises.

Its ok but it purpose dissolves across time

I think it needs changes, excersices are always the same (random but the same) there could be relaxing excercises, breathing, different pictures on the excersices, im so used to the same interface that I mostly click it away when it shows up, very useful at the beginning. Thankful You for that thoug.

Really works better for me (than other break apps)

I’ve tried a couple others, and this works for me. I think it’s because the photographs of people actually DOING the little exercises (“Raise shoulders up and down” or whatever) is double reinforcement (photo and reminder that MOVEMENT is good for you). At least I usually get up from my work, even if sometimes not for the full break. Thanks!

Helpful Health Break

I am on the computer for work for hours and long stretches at a time. The Healthier Break Reminder, helps me take a break rest my eyes, relax my stiff tightened shoulders, and stretch a little. Even though I don’t want to quit what I am doing, I know this is really helping my eyes and body in the long run! Thank you! A Friend referred me to this APP! Thank you Justin!

Great app for staying healthy during work

I work on my mac for 10+ hours a day and Healthier keeps reminding me to take small breaks in between. It definitely helps!

“Exercises” are awful

You probably will be VERY disappointed in the exercises. The timer works fine, but you can get that for free in many places.

Please, add option to disable “Autoplay”!

It’s annoying that when the app is started, the timer starts automatically, so it will show the full-screen alert when the timer is done if you forgot to pause it. Please, add the option to disable “Autoplay”, I’ll be happy to rate you 5 stars!

This is it!

I tried a bunch of apps to get a regular reminder to take a break from the computer. This one had the perfect mix of presistent-but-not-interruptive reminders to get me to actully do it without irritating me so much that I disable it. The stretching and strain management exercises are practicaL (like, you can do many of them without looking like a wierdo in pubic) and not repetitive. This latest update makes it fit in much better with Yosemite, too.
